The Visual Optics and Biophotonics Laboratory has just published a job offer for a 4-year predoctoral contract within the project PID2023-152641OA-I00. The research during the contract will deal with the construction of ocular models and their application.
New optical technologies that map the complete three-dimensional geometry of the eye prior to cataract surgery and customized ocular models will enable comprehensive surgical planning and simulations of the optical performance of specific solutions in the eye, tailored to the patient’s ocular anatomy. In addition, machine learning methods will help to use patient population data to guide intraocular lens selection.
Candidate requirements:
Possession of a university degree that gives access to doctoral studies preferably in the fields of Physics, Engineering, Data Science or Applied Mathematics.
Additional skills to be valued:
Basic knowledge of Matlab/Python.
General knowledge of statistics, data analysis and machine learning algorithms.
Strong motivation in the fields of optics, biomedical applications and experimental work with optical systems applied to the human eye.
Ability to face problems and find solutions autonomously. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
